The Other Man.

Everything changed when I met another man.

It was obvious to those in my life that I wanted a relationship. I truly thought I was fine. My relationship with Jesus was incredible. I was happy, content, and clueless.

I met him one weekend. It was a Saturday night. A lot of the women were dancing and singing. Some were sitting around the room, just enjoying the event. Everyone seemed to know him, and I wanted to also. I had heard about him and was curious to know if he was all that. Call me a skeptic, I had my reasons. There were people who were crazy in the way they acted. I didn’t think they were friends.

Eventually I found an older gentleman. He had this gentle, grandfather-likeness about him. I walk over and asked for an introduction.

That night everything changed. I had been “happy” for a while, but that night I met joy. I thought I was patient, but that night I met the source of my patience. That night I met the one Jesus sent.

"And when they were gathered together He commanded them, Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift the Father promised, which you have heard Me discuss.” Acts 1:4

After His death and resurrection, Jesus taught the disciples again, like a type of summary lesson of the things He had taught before. He had already taught them this, and this was the application moment.

(John 14:26 “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you.”)

The power. God brought salvation through Jesus, and gives us the power through the Holy Spirit.

If you’re like me, life throws curve balls at you and it’s hard to get traction in your faith. It’s easy to be strong when life is going smoothly. But when the storm hits, it’s another story.

Storms in my life can come in financial challenges, being a mom to adult children challenges, relationship challenges. Storms come in all shapes and sizes. And the biggest damage can be done to our faith when they hit.

Holy Spirit is referred to as comforter, counselor, advocate, seal, deposit, guide, intercessor, revealer, spirit of truth, spirit of God, spirit of life, teacher, witness. The one I like the most is right there in Acts 1:4. The Power.

Everything changed when I met Holy Spirit. I had power to weather storms like I had never had before. I would also add to His names, joy, peace, gentleness, and self-control. He is the power in my to be joyful, no matter what my circumstances. He is my power to be at peace. He is the gentle lover of my heart, and He is the power in my thoughts to have self-control beyond my own capabilities.

Everything changes in our faith when we meet the other man in the trinity. Holy Spirit changes everything.
